The Lumos spell lights up the tip of the wand, working like a flashlight. Wizards often use it to see in the dark. Its counter-spell is Nox, which extinguishes the light.

The Obliviate charm erases or alters memories. It is often used on Muggles to make them forget they have witnessed magical events.

The Wingardium Leviosa spell allows the caster to levitate and move objects through the air. It is one of the first spells Hogwarts students learn.

The Expecto Patronum spell summons a Patronus, a magical guardian made of light. It is one of the most powerful defensive spells, used to repel Dementors.

The Expelliarmus spell disarms an opponent by forcing whatever they are holding to fly out of their hand. It is Harry Potter’s signature spell.

The Avada Kedavra curse is the Killing Curse. It causes instant, painless death to the victim and is one of the three Unforgivable Curses. Its effect is marked by a flash of green light.
